Trisodium Phosphate is an inorganic salt commonly used by construction workers and painters. Most parents who buy breakfast cereals for their kids, but don’t expect to find TSP as an ingredient in cereals. Many of us are not even reading the labels when we buy food- as many of us buy based on price – coupon- or the fancy marketing images on the front of boxes. We have to understand that reading the ingredient label is CRUCIAL.
Why is this a food ingredient?
There does not seem to be a clear answer as to why this toxic ingredient is allowed in
foods. The Food and Drug Administration allows it, and talks down its role in our food supply. Although some agencies have taken steps to remove and ban this… the fact remains its still out there.
Where can you find this chemical in consumer products?

– Many canned soups
– Commercial cakes and baked goods (added as a leavening agent)
– Toothpastes
– Baby toothpastes

– Hair coloring and bleaching products

The FDA may down play TSP- but the substance is TOXIC.They have a document indicating that this substance is ” Utilized To Control the Growth of Microorganisms”
PROBLEMS WITH INGESTING IT:
Acute exposures to trisodium phosphate may cause irritation of the respiratory system with subsequent coughing and pain
It can cause strong irritation & erythema, blistering- and chronic exposures can result in inflammatory or ulcerative changes in the mouth and possible gastrointestinal disorders.
The substance can also liquefy tissues and allow for deeper penetration, depending on concentration, duration of contact, and area of the body involved.
Excessive TSP is also known to lead to kidney toxicity, calcium deficiency and osteoporosis and imbalances of minerals in the bones. This is definitely a problem to our Melanin. Melanin requires minerals and nutrients to thrive and regenerate itself and keep us in optimal condition.
